2015: 16-17 August – a new Comprehensive and Strategic partnership between the two countries both countries began – with visit of India’s PM Narendra Modi to UAE 

‘2018: Feb – PM Modi to UAE (Dubai) – for the 6th World Government Summit (WGS) – India was the Guest of Honour

2019: April – UAE’s highest award for PM Modi announced 

2019: Aug – PM Modi to UAE

  • Received the UAE’s highest award, ‘Order of Zayed’ 
  • Official launch of ‘RuPay Card’ in UAE
  • 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi – a set of stamps were released 

2022: Feb – virtual summit between India’s PM Narendra Modi and UAE President MBZ

  • The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) + other MoUs/Agreements were signed
  • A ‘Joint Vision’ document was issued – to guide relations further
  • A commemorative stamp was also released – for – India’s 75 years of Independence – 50 years of diplomatic ties between both countries – and 50 years of UAE’s formation  

2022: June – PM Modi’s stopover in Abu Dhabi, UAE

  • While returning from Germany after attending the G7 Summit 
  • He was received at the airport by UAE President MBZ 
  • Paid condolence on the demise of former President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan 

2023: July – PM Modi’s stopover in Abu Dhabi

  • While returning from France
  • Received at the airport by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
  • Followed by PM Modi and MBZ meeting in Abu Dhabi 
  • And a banquet lunch for PM Modi at the UAE’s Presidential Palace

2023: Nov-Dec – PM Modi in UAE for the COP28 World Climate Action Summit in Dubai 

  • Followed by meeting with UAE President MBZ
  • PM Modi also launched the Global Green Credit Initiative
