  • Won 269 seats, BJP again won 182 seats
  • Got TDP’s outside support, the party had won 29 seats
  • Congress+ – 136 seats – Congress (114 seats)

2004 Lok Sabha Election

  • NDA – 181 seats – with BJP’s 138 seats
  • Congress – 145 seats
  • United Progressive Alliance led by Congress was formed soon after the polls
  • UPA Tally – 218 – formed government with support from other parties
  • UPA (218) + Left Front (59) + SP (36) + BSP (19) + Kerala Congress (1) + IND (2) = 335
  • Outside support by the Left Front

2009 Lok Sabha Election

  • NDA – 159 seats – with BJP’s 116 seats  
  • UPA’s 262 seats with Congress’ 206 seats
  • UPA retained the government with support from other parties

2014 Lok Sabha Election

  • NDA – 336 seats – with BJP’s 282
  • Forms government with Narendra Modi
  • UPA – won 59 seats with Congress’ 44

2019 Lok Sabha Election

  • NDA – 353 seats – with BJP’s 303 seats
  • Retains government under Narendra Modi
  • UPA – 91 seats – with Congress’ 52 seats
