The Congress-led government in Karnataka has rolled out five welfare schemes, collectively known as the “Five Guarantees,” aimed at uplifting the socio-economic status of its citizens.

Shakti

The first of the five guarantees, Shakti, was launched on June 11, 2023. This initiative offers free bus travel for women on state government-run buses, enabling greater mobility and financial savings for women across the state.

Anna Bhagya

On July 10, 2023, the government launched Anna Bhagya, aimed at securing food security for families in need. Under this scheme, eligible families receive an additional 5 kg of rice per person through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Gruha Jyothi

Gruha Jyothi, launched on August 5, 2023, offers free power up to 200 units for eligible households. The initiative supports low-income households, contributing to better living standards and economic relief.

Gruha Lakshmi

On August 30, 2023, the government introduced Gruha Lakshmi, providing Rs 2000 monthly to women heads of eligible families. This financial assistance aims to empower women by improving their financial independence and supporting their families’ economic stability.

Yuva Nidhi

The latest in the series, Yuva Nidhi, was launched on January 12, 2024. This scheme provides Rs 3000 monthly financial assistance to eligible graduates and Rs 1500 to eligible diploma holders. Yuva Nidhi is designed to support young graduates and diploma holders as they transition from education to employment.
